What are these symbols?
Don't worry! It is not some strange new language. These symbols are part of the IPA, the international phonetic alphabet. It's a universal key that allows you to understand how to read and pronounce words in all languages. If you want to improve your pronunciation, you need to understand the IPA because it will help you know how to pronounce words.
This course will talk about these symbols, what sounds they represent, and how you can make them. You'll learn about common spellings associated with these sounds, some pronunciation rules, and the most common pronunciation errors.
At the end of this course, we will recognize the IPA symbols, learn to distinguish them graphically, associate a sound with each one, and correctly pronounce the words in English starting from their phonetic transcription.
